Hillsborough (1996) (complete ITV TV film)

Documentary on Tragic Hillsborough Incident
Jimmy McGovern's dramatisation of the Hillsborough football stadium disaster both investigates the police actions which caused it and explores its effects on the victims' families, skilfully using the dramatised documentary form to weave together public issues and private emotion. In the opening sequences, McGovern introduces young, passionate football fans, dismantling the myths about drunken 'yobs' stealing from and urinating on the dead, as told by the police and spread by The Sun. The police's stories directly contradict the official Taylor inquiry, which firmly concluded that the police were to blame. t is testament to McGovern that newspapers cited Hillsborough as a factor in a new inquiry set up in 1997, although the families' search for accountability goes on.

Sugar Ray Robinson Documentary

Documentary on Pound for Pound - Sugar Ray Robinson
Robinson was named the greatest fighter of the 20th century by the Associated Press, and the greatest boxer in history by ESPN.com in 2007. Muhammad Ali, who repeatedly called himself "The Greatest" throughout his career, ranked Robinson as the greatest boxer of all time. Other Hall of Fame boxers such as Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Leonard said the same. Renowned for his flamboyant lifestyle outside the ring, Robinson is credited with being the originator of the modern sports "entourage". After his boxing career ended, Robinson attempted a career as an entertainer, but struggled, and lived in poverty until his death in 1989. Assault in the Ring - Boxing / Sports Documentary

Documentary on Boxing Scandal That turned into a 30 minute assault
On June 16, 1983, undefeated prizefighter Billy Collins Jr. set out to fulfill every boxer's dream of fighting in the world's most famous arena -- Madison Square Garden. Collins' opponent, Luis Resto of the Bronx, moving up from welterweight, had his own dream of rising to the occasion in front of hometown fans. But what began as a match that Nashville native Collins was favored to win changed both athletes' lives -- ending Collins' career dreams and landing Resto in prison. Resto seemingly reached a fighter's ultimate goal by upsetting Collins, but his post-fight victory celebration was short-lived when it was discovered that the padding had been illegally removed from Resto's gloves by his trainer, Panama Lewis, before the fight. Resto was subsequently incarcerated and banned from the sport, while the brutally beaten Collins went into a tragic downward spiral.

The Conquest of Everest

DOCUMENTARY ON 1953 EXPEDITION OF EVEREST
It could be said that Conquest of Everest was 30 years in the making. In the early 1920s, the British Mallory expedition tried and failed to climb the world's highest mountain. Films of this abortive mission are presented in contrast to the coverage of the far more successful (and infinitely more famous) 1952 ascent of Everest. Most of the footage seen herein was lensed by George Lowe, a member of the expedition. Alas, it was impossible to film scenes of the peak itself; the victory is thus conveyed verbally by narrator Meredith Edwards and by other expedition members.
